Only in the Philippines - When DPWH men takes on the world

DPWHERE?

On the lighter side, there was a group of Photoshopped photos that has three DPWH officials on it, which was sourced from a photo where they were investigating the damage on Roxas Blvd because of the typhoon.

So far, the photoshopped photos containing three DPWH officials became a hit on forums, Facebook, blogs, and others! It doesn't matter where are these three DPWH are; good, bad, ugly, historical, beautiful, wacky, hilarious, pulse-pounding, doesn't matter where are these three went.

Like for instance, those three DPWH officials became part of Philippine history, World Wars, sports, Hollywood movies, Philippine TV dramas, video games, anime, famous paintings, cover albums, music videos, and others. These photoshopped photos under the banner "DPWHERE" became a viral sensation! You wouldn't believe how good these three meets up with "pop culture".

Check out the gallery of the adventures of DPWH members:

GO DO

2011 Ford Explorer

The all-new, fifth-generation, Ford Explorer has finally arrived in the Philippines and yes, we're the 2nd Asian country, to get this model aside from Japan.

So what's new on the all new 2011 Explorer? A lot. This new model is equipped with a 3.5L V6 engine that produces 290HP of power and it comes with a six-speed SelectShift Automatic Transmission. On the inside, it has an LCD touchscreen loaded with MyFord Touch, a first in the Philippines, and Ford Sync.

The new Explorer has Terrain Management System that allows the driver to switch through multiple modes depending on which terrain this car is.

GOOD SMILE COMPANY x KAMUI KOBAYASHI COLLABORATION

Just before the F1 Japan Grand Prix kicks off this Sunday at the Suzuka Circuit, Kamui Kobayashi (小林可夢偉), a Japanese F1 driver who represents Sauber-Ferrari, and famous for its tagline "The King of Overtaking" chose Good Smile Company to become his official partner and yes, Kamui Kobayashi spawned his very own Nendoroid and figma of his own!

Kamui Kobayashi Nendoroid

Kamui Kobayashi figma

Made possible by Good Smile Company, the Kamui Kobayashi Nendoroid (available this February) and the Kamui Kobayashi figma (available this March) are the biggest treats for those who are a big fan of this Japanese F1 driver who is skilled at overtaking.

Might be a little late for that but I'm sure car enthusiasts are readying their bank checks to pre-order such a cool treat.

I'm sure everyone will start complaining that how did a Japanese F1 driver spawned a Nendo and figma of his own. Coincidence? Nah, that's for supporting Kamui Kobayashi himself.

The RX-8's One Last Cry - RX-8 SPIRIT R

2012 Mazda RX-8 SPIRIT R

2012 Mazda RX-8 SPIRIT R interior

After been there for about eight years since its debut on April 2003 as a 2004, production of the Mazda RX-8 has coming to an end this Summer. That announcement got a lump on my throat and I even have a final chance to say farewell.

This is the Mazda RX-8 SPIRIT R, the final special edition to commemorate the end of Mazda's iconic rotary-engine powered sportscar. Only 1000 units to be produced and its available only on its home market, Japan. Guess it's time to shed some tears!

PRESS RELEASE:
Mazda RX-8 SPIRIT R Coming to Japan in November 2011

- Mazda RX-8 production to end summer 2012; rotary engine development will continue -
HIROSHIMA, Japan-Mazda Motor Corporation has announced the Mazda RX-8 SPIRIT R, a special edition version of its four-door, four-seat rotary engine sports car. The RX-8 SPIRIT R will go on sale from November 24, 2011 at all Mazda and Mazda Anfini dealerships throughout Japan. Mazda RX-8 production will end in June 2012 and SPIRIT R will be the final special edition model. Mazda expects to sell 1,000 units.

Mazda RX-8 SPIRIT R (with six-speed manual transmission)

The RX-8 SPIRIT R is based on the RX-8 Type RS (with six-speed manual transmission) and Type E (with six-speed electronically-controlled automatic transmission). It is named after the final limited edition Mazda RX-7, and this pedigree is reflected in stylish features that include exclusive seat design and colored alloy wheels. Additionally, Mazda's curtain and front side SRS airbag system, which is available as a factory-installed option on the base models, will be offered as standard equipment. Following the launch, the Mazda RX-8 lineup will consist of the SPIRIT R and the Type G (with six-speed electronically-controlled automatic transmission) model grades only.

Takashi Yamanouchi, Mazda's Representative Director, Chairman of the Board, President and CEO, said, "Mazda's iconic rotary engine recorded its famous victory in the Le Mans 24-Hour endurance race 20 years ago. Throughout 2011, we have been celebrating the 20th anniversary of that victory by demonstrating the winning 787B racecar at Le Mans' Circuit de La Sarthe and various other events around the world. At each one, the screaming rotary engine and the sight of the 787B have enthralled everyone from young children to race fans who witnessed its victory in 1991. These events have been a powerful reminder of the widespread passion for the rotary engine. Although RX-8 production is ending, the rotary engine will always represent the spirit of Mazda and Mazda remains committed to its ongoing development."

Songs played on the August 13 episode of Banana Split Extra Scoop?

Question from girlnextdoor:

"alam nyo ba mga title ng opening nila nong aug13 japanese songs help me plzzz"

Hi there! To answer this question, let me put this in chronological order. First, the song was Chichi wo Motomete, which was the closing theme from the classic super robot anime, Voltes V. Then, the theme song of Voltes V. Later, the other song played next was Tokyo Drift from Teriyaki Boyz (as heard from The Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift). After that, the next song played is titled Sweet Soul Revue by The Pizzicato Five. The last song they played on the August 13 opening of Banana Split Extra Scoop? Sorry but I don't know that title...

Mitsubishi Delica D:3 (BM20)

2012 Mitsubishi Delica D:3

The partnership between Mitsubishi Motors and Nissan goes even further with the introduction of the Mitsubishi Delica D:3, the NV200 Vanette-based addition of the Mitsubishi Delica lineup which consists of the original Mitsubishi Delica D:5 and the Suzuki Solio-based Mitsubishi Delica D:2.

2012 Mitsubishi Delica D:3

It has the same boxy design you've expect from the Nissan NV200 Vanette but on the front, the Mitsubishi Delica D:3 features a different front grille but it does look more similar to the outdated Oliver Boulay-designed pizza grille used in the past Mitsubishi models.

2012 Mitsubishi Delica D:3 interior

On the interior, there is nothing too special about the Mitsubishi Delica D:3. This low-cost Mitsubishi MPV can accommodate up to seven passengers and it offers wide array of seating arrangements that fits your lifestyle. The Delica D:3 features some jersey-style two-tone seats but unfortunately, this is the only interior color available.

The Mitsubishi Delica D:3 uses Nissan's HR16DE engine that delivers 80kW(109PS)/6,000rpm of power, 152Nm(15.5kg-m)/4,400rpm of torque, and 13.2 of fuel economy, thanks to its 4-speed AT mounted on the inside for easy driving.

Available in five exterior colors such as Cool Silver Metallic, Super Black, Bluish Green Metallic, Rose Red Pearl, and White Pearl.

My Comment:
The Mitsubishi Delica D:3 shows that the partnership between Mitsubishi and Nissan goes even further but as for my personal preferences, the Mitsubishi Delica D:3 is not as practical as the Mitsubishi L300 Versa Van. Not an ideal van for me to drive but what makes it up is for small business owners. You know what, it does made me confused.

New Chrysler 300 SRT8

The all new Chrysler 300 SRT8 is the next best thing to earn your respect to your Mafia family. Besides, not only your Mafia family will earn your respect, but your rival gangsters will be the envy of you, wishing them to get their very own Chrysler 300 SRT8, the ultimate 300 courtesy of Chrysler Group's Street & Racing Technology.

2012 Chrysler 300 SRT8

The new 300 SRT8's exterior design provides a muscular stance to earn respect to the crowd. From its unique front lamps, grille, front bumpers, 20-Inch x 9.0-Inch Aluminum SRT® Design Wheels, and a unique SRT8 badge to the back, we're sure to know that the well-sculpted exterior really matches up to its Mafia looks. The Godfather will surely be choked to death when he saw your ride parking near his penthouse.

2012 Chrysler 300 SRT8 interior

Respect is everything courtesy of the Chrysler 300 SRT8's interior. At its first glance, it looks similar to the regular Chrysler 300 but because this is an SRT8 version, you should expect seeing a host of respectful interior features such as carbon fiber paneling, unique SRT steering wheel, heated and ventilated Sport Leather Bucket Seats, Power Front Driver and Passenger Seats, Driver / Passenger Power 4-Way Lumbar Adjust, and Rear 60 / 40 Folding Seat. In the middle of the instrumental panel comes the 8.4-inch Electronic Vehicle Information Center which provides real-time information on the 300 SRT8. It also provides telemetry and data such as 0-60 mph times, eighth- and quarter-mile times, 60-0 mph braking distances and lateral acceleration figures. That was also applicable to the Uconnect Touch™ 8.4N CD/DVD/MP3/NAV as well.

2012 Chrysler 300 SRT8

Does the new Chrysler 300 SRT8 have a respectful performance courtesy of Street & Racing Technology? Let's find out once and for all. The new 6.4L HEMI V8 on the 300 SRT8 makes 465 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 465 lb-ft of torque at 4,200 rpm. To provide EPA est. MPG of 16 city/25 hwy, a Fuel Saver Technology was added to provide Variable Cylinder Management, providing this V8 engine to run on fours. The flappy paddle 5-speed semi automatic gearbox sounds convincing but not too exciting because five gears aren't enough for the SRT fan to bring out more "Fear Factor" on racetracks across the USA such as Laguna Seca, Road America, Road Atlanta, and Sebring. To tackle most of America's toughest tracks, the adaptive Bilstein suspension with two driver-selectable modes tackle America's toughest jobs. Set it to Auto mode and it provides more comfort on normal roads and if you set it to Sport mode and it provides sharper handling. For stopping power, the 300 SRT8 is armed with four-piston Brembo calipers for a stronger braking at various turns.

Safety is just a low-profile for the hardcore enthusiasts and the 300 SRT8 has some of its safety features to offer such as Rain-Sensitive Windshield Wipers, Tire Pressure Monitoring Display, Anti-Lock 4-Wheel Disc Performance Brakes, and 3-Mode Electronic Stability Control. The optional SafetyTec provides more safety features such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Sport and Cross Path Detection, Exterior Mirrors with Supplemental Signals, Exterior Mirrors with Courtesy Lamps, Forward Collision Warning, and Rear Fog Lamps. Experienced owners shouldn't rely on these when they're on the racetrack but newcomers should feel free to use these until they are ready to go on the EXTREME difficulty.

First time owners of the new 2012 Chrysler 300 SRT8 are feel free to participate in the SRT Track Experience, where a team of experts show the fundamentals on driving SRT vehicles. To register, go to http://drivesrt.com/srt-track-experience/

The new Chrysler 300 SRT8 offers six color variations such as Bright Silver Metallic Clear Coat, Bright White Clear Coat, Deep Cherry Red Crystal Pearl Coat, Gloss Black, Ivory Tri-Coat Pearl, and Tungsten Metallic Clear Coat.

My Comment:
Respect is everything for the all new Chrysler 300 SRT8 because of the aggressive features that brings respect to the driver. Your Mafia family will be very impressed to see how good is the new 300 SRT8 but the flappy-paddle 5-speed semi-automatic gearbox is not as exciting as the other super saloons. Yeah, right.

The whole world bids farewell to Steve Jobs

Obituary to Steve Jobs

Apple's gain is also Apple's loss. The company recently launched the iPhone 4S served as a (so-called) gain but the death of Steve Jobs served as Apple's biggest loss.

Steve Jobs was one of the forefathers of Apple, Inc., who was one of the legendary faces who've revolutionized the Apple brand forever. He died from cancer at the age of 56.

The statement from Apple Inc said that it had lost a visionary and creative genius. In fact, we will never forget Steve Jobs as a legendary genius that helped Apple created the most memorable items such as the Apple I from 1976, Apple II from 1977, Apple Lisa from 1983, Macintosh from 1984, NeXT Computer from 1989, iMac from 1998, iPod series from 2001, iTunes Store from 2003, iPhone from 2007, and iPad from 2010.

A few months ago, Steve Jobs resigned from being Apple's head and his position was passed to Tim Cook. It is said that he had an indefinite medical leave in January without reasons.

It has been an honor to have Steve Jobs because Apple Inc wouldn't gotten this big if it weren't from him. Thank You Mr. Steve Jobs for everything to help Apple stand up against the competition no matter how bad today's economy is. The global community would like to express their heartfelt condolences to the death of Mr. Steve Jobs.

R.I.P. Steve Jobs: 1955-2011
