Today's Item: GSC SSSS.GRIDMAN Primal Accepter

Welcome to our new segment titled "Today's Item", where I will show you some new items that I got recently and then show it to you just to see what is like and how it works.

For today's installment, with the upcoming SSSS.DYNAZENON, the latest TV anime from the world of Gridman, is around us, it might be a better time to binge watch the TV anime that started it all; SSSS.GRIDMAN. As the world waits for the next chapter of the Gridman universe, the replica of the item the SSSS.GRIDMAN main character Yuta Hibiki had, the Primal Accepter, has arrived and I got the chance to show it to you.

Here it is, the replica of the Primal Accepter as seen in the TV anime, made possible by our friends from Good Smile Company. Before opening it, let's take a moment to appreciate the illustration in the front of the box, which is surprisingly dramatic and awesome in every way. Anyway, no time for words, let's unbox it.

Inside, there's the said replica and a strap to put it on.

Styled just like in the anime series and it only needs three AAA batteries to operate it. Like most toys, you had to take the screw off to remove the battery cover in order to place the required batteries and then put it back. What a pain in the butt.

With the strap on, your Primal Accepter replica's ready for action and oh, in case you are working for the Yuta Hibiki cosplay, it's best to position it on your left arm.

Switched on, you have a chance to press two different buttons. The red button goes for the sound effects with the third one really rocked me. It's the Grid Beam SFX and best to stand well back because this sound effect blows you away. The blue button, meanwhile, triggers dialogues from Gridman, as heard from the TV anime, and when you hold the blue button, you can trigger in-anime BGMs including the TV-sized version of the anime's opening theme song.

...and there you have it, ladies and gentlemen. The fully-working replica of the Primal Accepter as seen on the SSSS.GRIDMAN TV anime series. It triggers lights and sounds just like the real thing and it's a must-have item for cosplayers trying to cosplay as Yuta Hibiki from the anime so they can have something to say "ACCESS FLASH" with it!

Enjoy your new toy...and don't tell Akane Shinjo about this.

Fun with the Yo-Kai Watch Dream toy

If you are very busy with the hit anime series based on Level 5's hit video game franchise, Yo-Kai Watch, you may have strongly familiar with the gadget the show's main character Keita Amano (Nate Adams) wears which is none other than the Yo-Kai Watch.

Throughout the show, Keita has wore different versions of the Yo-Kai Watch from the first one when the show began three years ago, the Zero model we saw in the Yo-Kai Watch 2 games, most importantly the one in the movie Keizou Amano (Nathaniel Adams) wore before handing it over to the would-be grandson at the end of the film, the U Prototype ringing new tribe songs and the fact that another Yo-Kai Watch user has one by the name of Inaho Misora, and now this...

Welcome everyone to the Yo-Kai Watch DREAM, the current Yo-Kai Watch model our main character is wearing from the TV series as well as the Yo-Kai Watch 3 games. The folks from BANDAI made a replica of the latest Yo-Kai Watch model Keita wore in the show and it became a must have for every Japanese kids' birthday present (or Christmas).

If you're in Japan and if you're looking for this kind of Yo-Kai Watch toy, it's hard to guess how much is this because on the official website, it's "PRICE ON APPLICATION" so you only need to request to the merchant how much this is. Long time ago, the first two Yo-Kai Watches, the original and the Zero, costs you 3,200 Yen plus tax, while the Yo-Kai Watch U Prototype costs you 4,200 Yen plus tax. Whatever this is, it's hard to guess how much this costs so it's everyone's guess.

Anyway, let's have a look at this Yo-Kai Watch DREAM toy...

Now that's some golden touch to the familiar design we love when we first fall in love with the Yo-Kai Watch.

This strap has a nice American theme to it. Perhaps no wonder the Yo-Kai Watch story enters the age of the American Yo-Kais such as Tomnyan, the KK Brothers, USApyon, and the others.

Lights emitting red while engaging Search Mode. The sound of the watch emitting scanning noise is now improved and it takes to getting used to this noise.

This Watch comes with two Yo-Kai Medals; Jibanyan and Robonyan USA. If you noticed something different with Jibanyan, that's because what you have here is the Dream Medal but let's talk about that later on because when you insert the watch, you are greeted with the brand new summoning jingle that varies by tribe and no matter the medal or the tribe, it plays one of seven roulette jingles but how it ends will be everyone's guess. In the case of the Yo-Kai Dream Medal, special dialogues will be triggered at the end of the summoning sequence. If it's good, the special dialogue will be good but if its bad, then it's the opposite. You get the point.

There's another thing you can do with the Dream Medal because with the Dream Medal present, hold the search button to trigger Charge Mode. When it says "3...2...1...", hit the Search Button to engage it and let's hope that the roulette hits the bottom middle of the watch or else you'll have to try and try again until it hits! When it hits the bottom middle of the Yo-Kai Watch DREAM, congratulations! Your Dream Medal's now charged! Some say you'll trigger something special with this by scanning its QR code behind the medal on the Yo-Kai Watch 3 SUSHI/TEMPURA/SUKIYAKI game for the Nintendo 3DS.

If words can bore you down, maybe a little video digest will;

So, what's my take on the Yo-Kai Watch DREAM toy? I'm starting to love this kind of Yo-Kai Watch toy a lot and I tend to get carried away when I am busy channeling my inner Keita (Nate) with this kind of Yo-Kai Watch and if you are planning to cosplay as Keita (Nate) on your next anime convention, better start looking for one of these and pretty soon, I'll be teaching you how to dress as Keita (Nate) from Yo-Kai Watch so watch for it.

Fun with the 12th Doctor's Second Sonic Screwdriver

Any Doctor Who fanatics who wish to resume cosplaying as the Twelfth Doctor but afraid that they didn't had his latest Sonic Screwdriver can rest easily because the folks from Character Options/Underground Toys made us a toy replica of The Twelfth Doctor's Second Sonic Screwdriver and I have it here. Let's take a look...

It took me over thirty dollars to buy this latest replica of the newest Sonic Screwdriver from the show but it's fair to say that it's money well-spent on this hard-to-find toy replica that you can make use of it on your next Doctor Who cosplay.

Look at this new look. So archaic, so blue, and so just like any other Sonic Screwdrivers from the past five decades of Doctor Who. Fans had a glimpse of the new one at the end of the Series 9 finale of Doctor Who, titled Hell Bent, after The Doctor and Clara bid each other goodbye and gone through separate ways. Because this is a new sonic screwdriver, how The Doctor make use of the new one remains unclear and as the latest series is coming this year, let's see how much screen exposure this new one can get.

The latest Sonic Screwdriver compared to the previous Sonic Screwdriver during the Matt Smith years. New look, same functionality.

For the first time in a Sonic Screwdriver replication, it emits not one but two different colors!

I know that anyone who want to resume cosplaying as the Twelfth Doctor can finally have this brand new toy replica based on the latest Sonic Screwdriver but feels like it's too late to explain about because with news that Peter Capaldi leaving his titular role at the 2017 Christmas Special, meaning that this new toy will be as meaningless as the imminent departure of the lead actor from the longest-running TV show in the universe. The "useless" part was just the hunch but the lead actor from the show? That's real stuff because you heard it from the man himself during an interview and while I find it very sad to see him go, it's best to make use of this new Sonic Screwdriver toy as cosplaying as the 12th Doctor for one, last time, will be the biggest sendoff offering for him.

In the meantime, I made a little video of this toy. Check it out and be sure to find one at your nearest stores if they had one.

Come and meet your toy "sestras"

Yes, these are the Leda clones as seen from the hit BBC America TV series, Orphan Black, and although they both have the same faces, not to mention the actress who played those clones, their personalities are different and thanks to our friends from HOT TOPIC, you can take home these Funko Pop vinyl figures of the Clone Club from the show.

Yes, these are available exclusively at Hot Topic for 12.50 US Dollars each plus tax, but I bought four of these "sestras" because, well, they really are the Clone Club after all and I do deserve a piece of Orphan Black in my home ever since I got into the Clone Club craze.

That's Sarah Manning, the main character of the TV show. Upon witnessing a horrible subway accident that killed a woman who turned out to be just like her, Sarah is on a deadly mission to uncover the truth behind her origins, even if it takes to keep her daughter Kira from the dangers that surround her. She knows the art of cloneswapping and she can disguise herself as one of the clones she encountered. Amazing.

This is Alison Hendrix and she is a housewife, a very desperate housewife who is not afraid to aim a firearm at you and also torturing backstabbing husbands with a glue gun. Remember that episode? Well, you get the idea but in the past, she tries to figure out what in the world her husband, Donnie, is up to, but things got spiralled out of control. Alison watched her neighbor Aynsley choked to death, Donnie accidentally killed Dr. Leeke of the Dyad Institute and hid his corpse under the garage of their home, now they're trying to hide from the world that they're alleged murderers.

That's Cosima Niehaus, the smart one who helped the Clone Club uncovering the truth about themselves. As every viewers knew, Cosima's more of a lesbian geek because of her relationship with a French woman who turned out to be one of Dyad's, Delphine Cormier, but despite her love affair, Cosima's fighting against a respiratory disease that threatens her life completely. Oh, and did I mention she can beat you in any board game you know?

Lastly, that's Helena, a merciless weapon of carnage who thinks she's the original but she's the identical twin of Sarah who was separated at birth and raised by Ukrainian nuns. Sarah thought she killed her at the end of the first season but she survived and later, she got abducted and pregnated by a religious cult known as the Proletheans. Upon escaping from them, the two sestras met each other again after killing one of Rachel Duncan's henchmen, but their hearts are starting to soften and Sarah will do everything to keep this vile woman safe from harm. Contrary to her violent nature, Helena's more of a glutton and she'll eat just about everything.

Anyway, that's all I can tell about my new favorite characters, but with these Pop vinyl figures modeled after them, it's great to know that you had a piece of Orphan Black in your collection. Having the entire Clone Club in your home is like you're keeping them as your property, your toy, your experiment, and your weapon. Property refers to Sarah, toy refers to Alison, experiment refers to Cosima, and weapon refers to Helena. Wouldn't it be nice to have the sestras together?

Like I said, these are available exclusively at Hot Topic for 12.50 US Dollars each plus tax and you can have a slice of your favorite Project Leda sestras from the show. Whether if you're as brave as Sarah, as desperate as Alison, as smart as Cosima, or as deadly as Helena, these are the ones to buy!

Which sestra will you pick?

Toys R Us pulling out Breaking Bad toys

Toys R Us pulling out Breaking Bad toys

Breaking Bad may have ended long ago but that Heisenberg fever still rages on even with its upcoming spin-off featuring Saul is on the works right now. I can't even believe that the phenomenal TV show that ended last year spawned an array of toys and other merch to keep that Heisenberg spirit alive.

Annoyingly, some mother from Florida complained about a sale of Breaking Bad figures on America's popular toy store Toys R Us, especially the Walter White toy with a detachable sake of cash and a bag of meth. She made a petition that demand Toys R Us to remove all Breaking Bad toys from the store and on their website. She thinks that such toys are a dangerous deviation from family friendly values and as of now, her petition grew to about 8,000 signatures.

Bryan Cranston, the actor who played Walter White in the hit TV series, tweeted this message in response to the Florida mom demanding the removal of Breaking Bad toys from Toys R Us.. There are some adult figure collectors joining in the fray as some guy in California staged a counterattack petition to keep those Breaking Bad toys and as of now, 3,000 signatures were collected.

Gosh...figures from violent TV shows, even the ones ended long ago...why would they want to sell it on a toy store full of kids stuff? Isn't that a little too absurd?

Our baby boy's new toys

We began earlier in a rainy Seattle where our baby boy Irvine turns 2 and here he is, enjoying his new presents that I bought...

Baby boy Irvine really liked the presents from me but what are those presents you may ask?

Heck if I know but these are the Octonauts Octo-squirters I bought from Toys R Us when there was a clearance sale going on since then and these octo-squirters featured are Lieutenant Kwazii Cat, the one with the eyepatch on it, the slime eel creature, and Tweak Bunny, the engineer of the Octonauts.

I really don't know what just happened but I got sucked into the enthusiasm of the Octonauts. I even got the whole "creature report" tune stuck in my head. Forgive me but anyway, let's check out how it's done and if you're reading this, my dear nephew, that's all you need to know...

After baby boy's enjoying his new Octonauts toys, what else we got for him?

We got the whole gang together! #disney #disneyjunior #docmcstuffins #lambie #stuffy #chilly #halliehippo

Ah yes! We bought Stuffy and Chilly just for him. Now, his Doc McStuffins plushies are, I think it was, done but look at it, we got what we listed. It's Doc and her friends; Lambie, Hallie, Stuffy, and Chilly! Woo-hoo!

Well, I think that's everything. So, to my dear nephew Irvine, happy 2nd anniversary!

A 12-inch Catbug plush

A couple of days ago, I went to the Hot Topic branch in Westfield SouthCenter, just in the middle of last-minute Christmas shopping like everyone else does...and I found this...

I bought this recently at Hot Topic. It's a 12-inch Catbug plush from the Cartoon Hangover web series Bravest Warriors.

It maybe a Convention Exclusive but Hot Topic sells the remaining leftovers just for us for a very limited time. Lucky for us because Catbug is one of the cutest cartoon characters known to many. Why is Catbug cute? Ahem...remember the segment that I did before?

He costs around 18.50 US Dollars when I bought him at Hot Topic but luckily, there was a limited-time promotion at Hot Topic where when I buy one, I get one for half-price. I bought him second because the first one I bought is a present to my sister for Christmas. Because of that, my Catbug plush I bought costs 50% less. Talk about holiday savings during the last-minute Christmas shopping, eh?

Awww....look at Catbug! So cute! I really want to hug him so hard! Oh yeah, in case you don't know about this cute critter or about the Bravest Warriors, my suggestion is to watch it only on the Cartoon Hangover website.

So far, the latest episode in Bravest Warriors, now on its second season, is the one with Jelly Kid on it. Anyone watched it yet?

From every angle, you can see that this limited-edition plush that was modeled after Catbug really does look like the real thing and because he's a plush version of what I know to be the most adorable being in the web series, you can hug him whatever you want. You can snuggle him while you're sleeping, or you can take him along on your next trips.

If I'm honest, my Catbug plushie is worth a rarity in his own right, and since I once have a BMO plush at home, I can feel free to pair these two cuties up in my spare time! Pair these two adorable characters and you got yourself the feeling that you've died and went to cuties heaven! Awww...

If you're looking for one of these, best to be hurry because these adorable plushies are for a very limited time so once they're all gone, they're all gone so hurry.

Things are getting frosty with our Elsa plush

In my previous article, I checked out that Anna plushie I just bought from the Disney Store and I told that it really is a keeper for little girls of all ages and if I were you, this is definitely a must have for a collector of everything Disney. Looks like the D23 community are thinking about my decisive choice and now, days later, I bought the Elsa plush just for the sake of the D23 community.

Here it is! After my whole EENEY MEENEY MINEY MO negotiation in the past and the whole...cockups that I made my family disappointed, I have finally got my hands on the character whose icy powers deemed uncontrollable and caused the kingdom of Arendella trapped in eternal winter. Quite an appropriate plush for an appropriate weather, especially in the Pacific Northwestern part of the USA, get it?

Yep, Elsa's been a fan favorite after all, especially in all her icy glamour.

Just like that Anna plush I've purchased, it costs US$19.95, so it's a bit expensive for a plush but if you're planning to buy one as a gift this Christmas (or if you're in a middle of a Monito Monita), this is just one of the alternatives.

Even in plush, it's still as elegant as the character herself! Even her textured braid does matches her personality. Oh yeah, if you wanted to have an Elsa-fied hairstyle, there's a clip for that.

Watch: http://video.disney.com/watch/elsa-s-textured-french-braid-4e99bbff4273f1e2b6ab48bf

Aside from her elegant looks and her cold-hearted...well, personality, it's the detailing that make this 20-inch plush stand out. To match the self-styled ice queen's icy and cold-hearted personality, her gown is pattered with snowflakes as well as her cape. Looks a bit transparent through the human eye but her gown's still as elegant as a winter wonderland. Her satin shoes weren't quite bad though.

Elsa the self-styled and villainous snow queen...wow, I'm starting to feel the cold now as well as the atmosphere's getting all frosty. Not quite frosty yet at the Pacific Northwest where I'm here now. Not yet snowy. Just dark clouds and rain. Let's just wait until it snows and when it snows, I'm getting the sisters of Frozen ready but for now...

Look at them! How nice it is when you pair these two sisters? I mean, just look at those two. I can't really decide which of these two is pretty but hey, your guess is as good as mine, okay?

Ah, but not done yet. I still need something special. A special treatment for the sisters Anna and Elsa...

There, that's better. Anna and Elsa, say hello to Sofia from Sofia the First. Ah yes, look at those three, looking fresh and pretty.

So, there you go, although she maybe a cold-hearted ice queen, Elsa's still elegant for a fan favorite if whoever went to the cinemas just to watch Disney's Frozen. For a plush toy of her, it's still worth an elegance worth feeling for, unless you're feeling the cold in a cold light of day.
