- Following the sudden burial of the late dictator Ferdinand E. Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani, National Historical Commission of the Philippines Chairperson Maria Serena Diokno has resigned from her post. According to Diokno, the burial of Marcos at the LNMB erases the memory of the lives lost and destroyed during his regime, and mocks the collective action the Filipinos took to oust him. The Malacañang respects her decision to resign from the NHCP.

- The Philippine National Police releases a composite sketch of the bomber who planted the bomb at the US Embassy in Manila. According to PNP Director General Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa, the suspect is described as 5'5: tall, of medium build and fair complexion.

- President Rodrigo Duterte inaugurated the mega drug rehabilitation center in Nueva Ecija and has vowed to allot more resources to build facilities like this in other parts of the country. This facility can serve 10,000 patients, occupies a land area of 11 hectares and has a total construction area of 60,000 square meters with 172 building units, making it the first large scale drug rehabilitation center in the country.

- US President-Elect Donald Trump has officially won a total of 306 Electoral College votes in the November 8th presidential election. It was finalized after Michigan, the last remaining state, announced the results on Monday.

- Researchers have begun a large-scale clinical trial of HIV vaccines in South Africa after achieving some success with the treatment earlier this year. The National Institutes of Health said on Monday it will give inoculations to 5,400 uninfected men and women between the ages of 18 and 35 over the first year. It will then monitor their response within the next two years.

- A chartered plan carrying 81 people, including members of a Brazilian soccer team, has crashed in Colombia. According to reports, about 10 are reportedly survived. Authorities say there were contacted by the plane about an emergency before it went missing near the central city of Medellin on Monday night. The aircraft was traveling from Bolivia to Colombia.
