- The Russian defense ministry accuses the Turkish government of trading oil with the Islamic State militants. In a briefing in Moscow, Russian officials disclosed satellite imagery of tanker trucks travelling on three routes from the Islamic States' territories in Syria and Iraq to Turkey. They also said that Turkish leader Erdogan and his family have been involved in trading the oil. Erdogan denies claim over the proof.

- A shooting spree at a social services facility in the US state of California has left 14 people dead and 17 others injured. The shootout occurred at around 1100 hours Pacific time in San Bernardino. Police say several hundred people were at the facility. Later, two of the three suspects behind the shootout were killed by the police after a crossfire.

- Despite being disqualified by the COMELEC from the May 2016 presidential elections, Senator Grace Poe is still be included in official ballots if other disqualification cases against her aren't resolved before the scheduled printing of ballots.

- Pope Francis is named as the person of the year by the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals for calling on humanity to see animals as God's creation worthy of protection and respect.

- Mark Joseph Solis, the UP graduate who caused issues regarding the photo plagiarism incident two years ago, has sought redemption because two years ago, he managed a football program for street children at a makeshift field inside the Baclaran church compound in Pasay City. Yesterday, he even met up with former Chilean ambassador to the Philippines Roberto Mayorga during the launch of the Calidad Humana book at the CCP.

- The Volvo S90 returns as the flagship saloon that will replace the S80 and it promises to be the safest flagship Volvo ever with an array of semi-autonomous safety features.

- About yesterday, the Department of Trade and Industry held a hearing to address the complaints against Mitsubishi Motors Philippines regarding the curious case of their SUV's sudden unintended acceleration. One expert witness has since gone viral on social medial after saying that frequent car-washing is the main cause of a certain SUV's unintended acceleration.
