- A gunman, identified as Mohammad Youssuf Abdulazeez by the FBI, shot down four US Marines and injured several others at two US Navy buildings in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

- The German parliament is to vote on whether or not to allow negotiations on the 86 billion bailout deal for Greece. Germany is ope of the key eurozone nations that must approve before the rescue deal can go ahead.

- Typhoon Nangka is slowly moving northward around Tottori Prefecture, western Japan, bringing heavy rainfall to the region. Weather officials warn of possible landslides, swollen rivers, and flooding in low-lying areas.

- According to Japan's sports minister Hakubun Shimomura, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is expected to speak to the media this Friday about the construction of a controversial new national stadium before the upcoming 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

- 9 people are confirmed dead in the Semirara Coal Mine collapse while seven others are reported missing. The incident occurred at 0400 hours Manila Time when the Panian Mine Site collapsed. Rescue operations are underway but heavy rainfall is experienced at the nation's largest coal mine.

- Believe it or not, former Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson is mulling his final run at the Top Gear Test Track as part of the bid in a charity auction in London and despite his tweets about he'll be driving an Austin Maestro, a pic of him is showing a Mercedes-AMG GT, a Ferrari LaFerrari, and the latest Ferrari 488 GTB.

- IN CASE YOU REALLY MISSED IT: Tuning company Polestar is now a subsidiary of Volvo after the Swedish car company gained full control of Polestar as the Swedish equivalent of BMW M Power and Mercedes-AMG.

- An upcoming update on the recently-launched Pokken Tournament will feature the Fire-and-Fighting-type Blaziken to the roster of playable Pokemons in the new arcade game from the makers of Tekken.
