THREATS FROM NORTH KOREA: Russia opens railway to North Korea


Russian state-run railway finished repairing the 54km stretch from the far east city of Khasan to the northeastern port of Rajin, North Korea. This port is the hub of the Rason Special Economic Zone. Russian Railway President Vladimir Yakunin said the project that Russian President Putin and the late Kim Jong Il had agreed to 12 years ago has finally been realized. It took 5 years to finished and 260 million dollars to invest. North Korea gave the company rights to use the line for almost 5 decades.
