Daihatsu Mira e:S (LA300S/LA310S)

Last year, the arrival of the 2011 Daihatsu Move reigned as the world's most fuel efficient eco-car that has the reputation of TNP27 (27.0km/L in Japan's 10-15 Mode Cycle), but later in June 2011, it was dethroned by the 2012 Mazda Demio 13-SKYACTIV because the Demio SKYACTIV has a new P3-VPS engine that accumulates 30.0km/L in Japan's 10-15 Mode scale. Today, the Demio SKYACTIV's reign is over because a new eco-car steps in and its made by Daihatsu. This new eco car has the concept of "3rd Eco Car" (第3のエコカー) and it accumulates a record-high fuel economy 30.0km/L in Japan's JC08 mode scale and 32.0km/L in 10-15 Mode scale. Welcome to the 3rd Eco Car, the 2012 Daihatsu Mira e:S (ミライース).

2012 Daihatsu Mira e:S

The e:S naming in the Mira e:S was derived from the Daihatsu e:S Concept, as seen from the 2009 Motor Show and the concept of 3RD ECO CAR (第3のエコカー) can be somewhat unknown but in my unique guessing, I think this is the third Daihatsu to be equipped with the revolutionary Eco Idle system. The first was the 5th generation Daihatsu Move and the second was the Daihatsu Move Conte's minor change. The all new Daihatsu Mira e:S has no relation to the Daihatsu e:S Concept car because of its form and packaging. In fact, this can be somewhat an unexpected twist.

The exterior design can be somewhat shabby for a compact car and if you look at it, it looks like it was some kind of an everyday commuter car on an average province. Think of it as a poor man's Kia Morning but the new Mira e:S is focused to be more simple and practical. Up front, you can see a new badge which in fact it looks like some sort of a leaf but this is a symbol of being the most fuel efficient gasoline-fed car ever made by Daihatsu for Japan in mind. The side view can be somewhat similar to the Nissan March K13 and the rear view is somewhat too squishy and rather too blander. Is this the car or is it the design center's too underfunded?

2012 Daihatsu Mira e:S interior

Forget about the underfunded exterior design, let's take peek at the interior of the Mira e:S. As I can see, there is a similar looking climate control system that was last seen at the fifth-generation Daihatsu Move and the center console is too similar from the second-generation Daihatsu Boon/Toyota Passo and if you stare closely at the instrumental, you can observe that everything is too digital, not analog. With such an odd-clustered cockpit, the Mira e:S can accommodate up to four adults and nothing's too special about the bland interior. Guess we should find a way to make it more reasonable inside the Mira e:S...

2012 Daihatsu Mira e:S

And now for the main course of the Mira e:S, its performance. The new Daihatsu Mira e:S is equipped with the special KF engine that accumulates 52PS/6800rpm of power output and 60Nm/5200rpm of torque output. It even comes with a CVT for optimized fuel economy and smooth driving. For the fuel economy, the Mira e:S can accumulate, and if you were sitting down, 30.0km/L in Japan's JC08 Mode scale. That's 32.0km/L in 10-15 Mode scale, meaning that's superbly higher than the Mazda Demio 13-SKYACTIV and the TNP27 Daihatsu Move combined! What an incredible fuel economy record that makes it the world's most fuel efficient compact car ever made! That wouldn't be done without the help of the Eco Idle (Idle Stop and Go) system, newly developed i-EGR (ion controlled Exhaust Gas Recirculation) system (that applies the ion current combustion control, in which ions in the combustion chamber are used to identify the state of combustion, to EGR control), lighter bodywork, thermal management, and Eco power generation control (with regenerative braking functions). These new technology applied are called "e:S Technology" and it was made exclusively on the new Mira e:S.

The Mira e:S not only is fuel efficient, but it can be the safest eco car in mind thanks to the features such as Total Advanced Function (TAF) body, Safety-Oriented Friendly Interior, SRS airbags, optional ISOFIX child seat, Vehicle Stability Control, and Anti-lock Braking System.

The new Daihatsu Mira e:S comes in eight unique color variations such as Sky Blue, Shell Rose, Cotton Ivory, Plum Brown Crystal Mica, Black Mica Metallic, Bright Silver Metallic, Pearl White III, and White.

My comment:
As a fan of fuel-efficient vehicles, I am impressed to see that the all new Daihatsu Mira e:S dethroned both the Mazda Demio 13-SKYACTIV and the fifth-generation Daihatsu Move combined! Imagine, 30.0km/L in Japan's JC08 mode cycle, that's somewhat extremely high enough to call it the world's most fuel efficient gasoline-fed car in the market today. Looks like a star is born from Daihatsu and I hope the all new Mira e:S can be proven to be the most successful eco-car made for those who are looking for fuel-efficient cars today because of continuous rise of gas prices today.

Never seen a Bentley Mulsanne interior like this!

2011 Bentley Mulsanne Executive Interior Concept

Move over, Range Rover Autobiography! I've never seen a Bentley Mulsanne interior like this, and it made me super jealous to see such a thing!

Called the Mulsanne Executive Interior Concept, this Mulsanne is fully armed with several concepts fit enough for a boss to work while getting stuck at traffic.

Wish to have it but it's a concept version. Let's hope that Bentley made a production version of the Mulsanne Executive Interior because of, these cool gadgets!

PRESS RELEASE:
CONNECTIVITY MEETS CRAFTSMANSHIP

Bentley Mulsanne Executive Interior Concept debuts at International Automobile Exhibition (IAA) in Frankfurt

(Frankfurt. 13 September 2011) Bentley Motors is showcasing a new multimedia connectivity concept designed for executives inside the luxurious, hand-crafted cabin of the company's Mulsanne flagship at the 2011 Frankfurt Show (Stand A09, Hall 3).

The Mulsanne Executive Interior Concept offers an impressive array of bespoke business, comfort and entertainment features - designed to conduct business on the move or just unwind between meetings - all beautifully integrated into the sumptuous and comfortable cabin which takes Bentley's craftsmen and women over 170 hours to create.

Mulsanne rear passengers receive individual Apple iPad workstations with full internet access (integrated into retractable picnic tables) whilst a large, drop-down LED screen ensures that a wide selection of movies as well as television can also be enjoyed.

Renowned for its painstaking attention to detail, Bentley has added a range of finishing touches including a Tibaldi fountain pen from its specially commissioned Collection which is designed to mirror the Mulsanne's knurled-metal rotary switchgear and which is discretely stowed in the centre armrest. And seen on a Bentley for the first time, a distinctive Yachting-style veneer, which blends light and dark contrasting tones, features throughout the cabin. Comments Alasdair Stewart, Member of the Board for Sales & Marketing:

"Many customers use their time in the Mulsanne to keep on top of their business commitments or simply take a few moments to relax. This fully functioning concept highlights the Mulsanne's potential to help busy executives to communicate effectively and quickly whilst travelling. As you would expect from Bentley, all these features work in harmony with the handcrafted cabin and can be displayed or hidden at the user's discretion,"

Key entertainment and business features

- Two electric-powered, foldable wood veneer picnic tables in the rear cabin, each with Apple iPad and Apple Bluetooth keyboards.
- The twin iPads enable the Apple Media Centre to play video files and music, provide access to personal and work e-mail as well as the internet (via W-Lan).
- Apple Mini Mac stored in boot compartment enables integration of iPad with Bluetooth keyboard and iPod acts as control panel in rear console.
- Roof console with 15.6 inch High Definition LED dropdown monitor. Plays videos (from both DVD changer and Mac Mini) and watch Television.
- Comfort, control and stowage features

- Illuminated rear centre console fitted with twin, individual armrests offers true, spacious 4-seat configuration.
- Rear console also houses Apple iPod (control panel), two cupholders, tissue box and large stowage area.

- Bespoke bottle cooler in rear centre console with illuminated, double-glazed frosted glass door.
- Additional, multi-directional reading lights are provided for each rear passenger and can be operated with Apple devices.

Drooling for extremes

2012 Perodua Myvi SE and 2012 Perodua Myvi Extreme

Back in June 2011, Perodua launched the all new Myvi, which was based on the second-generation Toyota Passo/Daihatsu Boon but with different design cures to suit the needs of Malaysian customers. It was later sold in Indonesia as the new Daihatsu Sirion (didn't see that thing coming).

Now, there were hotter versions of the all new Myvi arrived under the banners "Perodua Myvi SE 1.5" and the new "Perodua Myvi Extreme". With the concept of "Lagi Power, Lagi Best", the 1.5L engine makes both the new Myvi SE and the new Myvi Extreme. On here, the new Myvi SE gained a new grille, new front bumper, and relocated fog lamps, The new Myvi Extreme has the same look from the SE but more agressive thanks to the grey bumper lid and an elaborate spoiler.

They are both powered by a 1.5L Twin Cam Engine with DVVT (3SZ-VE) which was used in the Perodua Alza (based on the Daihatsu Boon Luminas and Toyota Passo Sette), accumulating 102hp of power, and 136Nm of torque.

Verdict: If only Daihatsu and Toyota made hotter versions of the Passo and Boon...

Chevrolet Sonic 4-door Sedan and 5-door Hatch

How did a car brand like Chevrolet name this compact "Sonic"? This new compact wants to be as fast as Sonic the Hedgehog and as delicious as the Sonic drive-in. Let's see if we can park, browse, press, receive, pay, and enjoy with the new compact sedan and hatch that targets the likelihood of the Ford Fiesta, Hyundai Accent RB, and the upcoming Kia Pride/Rio UB.

2012 Chevrolet Sonic Hatch

2012 Chevrolet Sonic Sedan

Most of them already know that this was sold worldwide as the Chevrolet Aveo (even South Koreans called it 쉐보레 아베오), but we're talking about the Chevrolet Sonic so what the heck, time for a quick refresh. Time for some SONIC 101 - a comprehensive study in all things SONIC. Let's begin, shall we?

The Sonic's exterior design was heavily inspired from the Chevrolet Aveo RS Concept car, providing an aggressive look to this compact car and it hints at the new trademark Chevrolet design as part of the brand's 100th anniversary. The 4-door sedan is a little bit more Chinese but the 5-door hatch is more like the Spark's big brother thanks to the sharp rear view and the secret rear door. It was guaranteed to be the sharpest compact car ever made to satisfy young drivers.

2012 Chevrolet Sonic interior

The interior view of the Chevrolet Sonic looks reasonably made from the future for the future and the new dynamic instrumental cluster really puts a smile on the driver, making it a driver's high. On the 5-door hatchback version, there is space provided for your luggage needs, making room for your endless possibilities. You should be grateful for this car because it has USB connectivity that allows you to plug your favorite mobile devices, your iPhone, iPad, or iPhone, so you can play some more music while driving around from San Francisco to New York. For the fun of it, the Chevrolet Sonic is focused more on entertainment on the inside because Spotify is now here.

For those who haven't heard of it, think of it as your new music collection, but it's vast, over 15 million tracks and growing. Spotify lets you share some music you're listening. You can feel free to share everything to your friends such as tracks, playlists, everything. Spotify is been proven popular in Europe and now for the first time in North America, thanks to the Chevrolet Sonic, you can enjoy music all you want, wherever you want. For more info, go to http://www.spotify.com/us/hello-america/comb/

Now, onto the performance side. The all new Chevrolet Sonic is offered in two available engine types such as a 1.8L L4 ECOTEC engine and the high-performance 1.4L L4 ECOTEC TURBO engine. The natural-aspiraiton 1.8L ECOTEC engine provides 138HP of power and 125lb-ft of torque while the turbocharged 1.4L ECOTEC engine provides the same power output from the NA 1.8L ECOTEC engine but with the added 23lb-ft torque, making it 148lb-ft. The 1.8L L4 ECOTEC only offers a 5-speed manual but the 1.4L L4 ECOTEC TURBO offers either a 6-speed automatic or (whoa) a 6-speed manual transmission. Good to say that most customers would go for the turbo variant with 6-speed manual because this is a fun-to-drive variant. Think about the endless possibilities they would do with the Chevrolet Sonic, especially when they bring it on track day events.

For a peace of mind, the Chevrolet Sonic offers 6 months of OnStar subscription, 10 airbags, standard theft protection system, and a standard driver info center that keeps checking what's what around the Chevrolet Sonic.

Both the Chevrolet Sonic 4-door Sedan and 5-door Hatch offers six color variations such as Inferno Orange Metallic, Silver Ice Metallic, Victory Red, Black, Summit White, and Crystal Red Tintcoat.

My Comment:
With the available turbo engine and loaded with interior features, plus available Spotify, it's good to know that THIS IS HOW YOU SONIC. Sounds delicious but for one question though, if that new model come to the Philippines soon (if TCCCI approves), what should we call it? A new Aveo or a Sonic? I had my fingers crossed...

BMW 1 Series Full Model Change (F20)

For the first time ever, the BMW 1 Series hatchback gained its first full model change after its first generation stayed for about seven years when it was introduced in the world since 2004. We weren't sure how can we describe about the BMW 1 Series' full model change but see if we care...

2012 BMW 1-Series (F20)

The first-generation 1-Series is a little bit bulgy but the new, second-generation F20 1-Series is now a little bit bulgier than the first generation model! The front view of this new model can be somewhat odd or creepy. It appears it was designed by some madman who got hit by an axe because the front view of the new F20 1-Series is the most terrifying view I have ever seen in my whole life. One look and your babies will start crying uncontrollably because of such scary stance! For the first time ever, there are three styles to choose from such as the Standard, Urban Line for some executive feeling and the Sport Line for sportiness.

2012 BMW 1-Series (F20) interior

The new BMW F20 1-Series look scary on the outside but on the inside, you'll be safe here. The new interior on the BMW F20 1-Series is all about being hospitable and its tempting to check out some technological features such as the new BMW ConnectedDrive feature. From the inside, I could get addicted with the connectivity features loaded especially the BMW apps that allows me to go on a Facebook status updates, twitter updates, and Webradio. The BMW Online feature allows me to keep in touch with the latest reports and weather updates while cruising the Autobahn. The new 1 Series hatchback is made to be more savvy and addicting much like you're playing Angry Birds in your iPhone. Don't lie, we know that was the case.

As the last FR hatchback remaining, the new BMW 1-Series provides athletic footwork on the road ahead because of its RWD layout, meaning that you can do some drifting as long as you find a way to disable its traction control system and stability management. Forget about what I said but anyway, the new 1 Series hatchback offers a TwinPower Turbo L4 Petrol engine for the 116i and 118i variants, and a TwinPower Turbo L4 diesel engine for the 116d, 118d and 120d variants. The TwinPower Turbo L4 gasoline engine equipped on the BMW 116i can accumulate a fuel economy of 17.2 to 18.2km/L combined and 17 to 17.9km/L combined when this engine's equipped on the BMW 118i. The BMW 116d gets a combined fuel economy of 22.2 to 23.3km/L while the 118d gets about 22.2 to 22.7km/L of combined fuel economy and the 120d gets a combined fuel economy of 21.7 to 22.7km/L. These fuel efficiency measures are thanks to the new ECO PRO mode , regenerative braking, and the idling stop function for optimized fuel economy. The new ECO PRO mode allows drivers to record fuel consumption records in real time. Depending on the variant, the new 1 Series is offered with three transmission types such as a 6-speed manual transmission, 8-speed automatic sports transmission Steptronic, and a 8-speed automatic transmission Steptronic.

With the Standard, Sport Line, and Urban Line offered on the new 1-Series, and depending on which style you're on, the new BMW F20 1-Series is available in various color variations such as Black Sapphire, Tiefseeblau, Glaciersilber, Midnight Blue, Mineralgrau, Alpinweiss, Schwarz, and Karmesinrot. The available Sport Line and Urban Line allows customers the option to paint the side mirrors White (for the Urban Line) and Black (for the Sport Line).

My comment:
The new BMW F20 1-Series looks scary on the outside but on the inside, it can be somewhat addicting thanks to the available technology offered and the BMW ConnectedDrive feature that keeps them entertained. With three different kinds available such as the Standard, Urban Line, and Sport Line, finding the right personality for the new 1-Series is all about choices and decisions to make. To provide the essence of fuel economy, a new ECO MODE is added and with the combined forces of the idling stop function and regenerative braking, you can have the most fuel-efficient FR hatch offered from BMW. What makes me jelly (jealous) is the twin turbo gasoline and diesel engines offered to bring out more fun unlike any other rivals.

The only 1-Series variant available is the 5-door hatchback so you have to make do with it, folks.

It came from nowhere! - Viper ACR's Nurburgring lap time

Dodge Viper ACR at the Nurburgring Nordschleife
(*Photo taken from Gran Turismo 5 and for illustrative purposes only)

What the fudge?! Despite the Dodge Viper's out of production last year (but slated to return for the 2013 model year), the high-end Viper ACR wants to settle the scores at the Nurburgring Nordschleife after witnessing top record attempts by the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, Porsche 911 GT2, and the Lexus LFA Nurburgring Edition.

Back in 2008, the Viper ACR raced through the Nurburgring in 7:22.1 until the ACR's record got beaten by the Porsche 911 GT2 in April 2010, which was later beaten by the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 and the Lexus LFA Nurburgring Edition. This time, Dodge seeks revenge against those who beat the ACR's record by pitting the 2010MY Viper ACR at the Nurburgring.

Unknowingly, the 2010MY Viper ACR scored a lap time of 7:12 (tentative), which means that's faster than the Lexus LFA Nurburgring Edition's record of 7:14.64, making the 2010MY Dodge Viper ACR the 4th fastest production car at the Ring.

Sadly, Chrysler Group LLC didn't release an official statement about the ACR's Nurburgring record attempt but will these statements be true or possibly hoax?

Goin Bulilit 7th Graduation Night

Every year at Goin Bulilit, this show bid farewells to those who are not Bulilits anymore if they were going to graduate from elementary or reaching the age of 13 but that's different, graduating means you're all grown up and no longer part of Goin Bulilit anymore.

This year, Goin Bulilit bids farewell to the veteran bulilits such as Sharlene San Pedro, Nash Aguas, Nika, Aaliyah, and Noemi.

It's hard for the Goin Bulilit kids to say farewells to our veteran bulilits because they are all grown up and yes, these no-longer-kids are joining the ranks of others who left Goin Bulilit such as Kathryn Bernardo, Julia Montes, Miles Ocampo, Alfred Labatos, Hopia Legaspi, Igiboy Flores, Jane Oineza, and CJ Navato.

Don't give up kids (oh wait, you kids are no longer kids). On the bright side, you are all grown up and moved on to bigger and brighter things.

Goin Bulilit 7th Graduation Night

We would like to express our biggest sympathy to the graduates! For them, good luck and enjoy your new lives, GB graduates!

Driving Music (What is the name of the song on car commercial?) Vol. 12

HOLY SHOOT! WHAT THE FUDGE?

Those "son of a bee stings" just ransacked my blogs again! This time, it's a double! It seems my blogs been burglarized! (Hey, it's the 12th time our blogs been burglarized by car enthusiasts looking for car commercial songs). These hoodlums left me with a repetitive message of "kia optima k5 song artist", "music kia k5 commercial", and "name of song in kia optima k5 commercial".  AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

That does it. Nobody search for these! Just forget about it okay? Your queries made my head burning on fire!

Okay, to cool off my fried head, here are some of my another Driving Musics (Car Commercial Songs) for you to enjoy. Just forget about the Kia K5 commercial music okay? The BGM is too original and it cannot be released to the public. Anyone keep saying what's what should go away, get dragged by a horse, and DIE! Understood?

I cannot let a single car addict saying it.

I'll forgive you guys if you promise me not to search it again.

Let's begin...

5) S&M by Rihanna - You'll hear this from a latest Renault Samsung SM3 Korean TV commercial. Single? Sorry, Daddy on board! 아빠가 타고 있어요!

4) Harbinger by Mike Oldfield (from Music of the Spheres) - you'll hear this from the RSM ALL NEW SM7 Korean TV commercial.

3) Bonobo by Ketto - as heard from the Kia K7 Korean commercial back in 2009 and also at the Citroen C4 Picasso French commercial back in 2006

2) Tick Tock Boom by The Hives - as heard from the new Citroen C3 French TV ad back in 2009.

1) La 2CV en folie by Lefèvre Raymond (from bandes originales des gendarmes : L'intégrale) - as heard from last year's Citroen Superbonus promo commercial. This commercial has a scen from L'intégrale!

And that's for now! This segment is intended to "attack" some car enthusiasts who are looking for car commercial songs. It was intended to share some more next time if my computer got burglarized by car enthusiasts looking for car commercial songs.
